Best (sex) under $10
June 4, 2008
For those who have never had interested in the HBO series “Sex and the City”, stop reading now. But for S & C fans, the new full length (and I mean that; run time is 2 hrs, 30 min.) film doesn’t disappoint and does a more than sufficient job of wrapping up their 10-year history.
True to the series style, men, cocktails and fashion play as big of a role as the women in the film. There’s plenty of eye candy and sex talk but the film also focuses on love and friendship. And of course there’s plenty of drama in between.
Sex and the City begins with a recap of the seasons for non-fans and those who haven’t just watched the whole series again to prepare for the movie. Everything begins well and we pick right back up three years after the series ended, hearing Carrie’s column voice talk of love, life and New York. Being a journalism student, it always annoyed me that her entire columns she writes out loud are questions. But anyway, the film continues to delve into each woman’s life and this movie provides the first real look at the men of Sex and the City. For the first time Mr. Big especially is more than just a mysterious aspect of Carrie’s life. He’s in love, he’s happy, he’s scared and the other men go through all of these emotions as well.
For cheaper ways to get your Sex, go to Alamo Drafthouse for their $6.50 student ticket. Blockbuster is also selling seasons of the series for $30 with free movie tickets inside.
