An update

April 4, 2008

Yea, I told you we love it. Does that guy in front of me even realize how silly he looks? I guess I’m not one to talk.

So they just got a book deal. And you thought blogs weren’t legitimate. Or that could just mean white people love reading about themselves. That’s actually more likely.

Anyway in homage to that blog, I’d like to talk about something else white people looove. It’s organized runs.

[2007 Capital 10K and yes I ran it again today]

I mean, think about it. It takes fitness to a whole new pumped up and cheery white level. And the entry fee usually goes to some kind of charity or cause, though most of the runners wouldn’t actually be able to tell you what that cause was. And the best part about it all for white people is the organization. You wait in line to pick up your sponsored race number and chip, you file behind the pro runners, dog walkers and stroller rollers to run on a course with a finish line. This is where the fun only begins with live bands, award ceremonies and sponsored health snacks at the finish.

Another reason for this love is that white people really aren’t great at sports in general, unless you count hockey and polo. But in runs, everyone is a winner because there are always people behind you. It doesn’t matter if it took an hour to run 3 miles, because you passed that 70 year old woman back there with pride.
