So the UT campus made it on an MTV show. I would celebrate this, except for it’s a show titled “Rock the Cradle” in which celebrity “rock stars’” offspring (8 of them) compete in an American Idol/Your Mama Don’t Dance type competition.

MC Hammer’s daughter, A’Keiba Burrell-Hammer was a radio-television-film student and a member of Longhorn Singers at UT up until a few weeks ago, when she left to be on the show. A friend of a friend knows her from a class and she definitely quit school while working on a group project. My bad!

So usually in competitions, most of the participants have talent and the field is…well competitive. On this show however, A’keiba is the only talented singer. The other kids don’t even come close to her voice.

Crosby Loggins gets honorable mention just for being a hottie and actually knowing how to operate an instrument.

Half entertainment half reality shows like this are bound to have a hook up before the end of the season. Just watching one episode, I already know that Bobby Brown’s son Landon and Joe Walsh’s daughter Lucy will make a beautiful baby before all of this is over.

Fresh Annoyances

April 3, 2008

So I like to watch the Hills. It’s a good show and it’s addictive, so get over it.

During this show, the Dove micro series “Fresh Takes” has gnawed and wormed its way into commercial time. This seems to be a growing trend and it’s annoying. Now not only do I have to watch a Dove commercial, I have to watch that plus another ten minute Dove commercial starring Alicia Keys. I can’t believe I’m about to link to Gawker, but they do have a point.

These micro series are basically short, bad, awkward commercially series, or in the same style of Ten Items or Less for TBS watchers.

Sunsilk recently did this with their series LoveBites during Sex and the City. Why? Why.
