Uhh… yeah podcasts
October 10, 2008
I realize I’m pretty behind the curve on this one, but for anyone like me who hasn’t discovered the world of podcasts or is just beginning to navigate the sea of FREE episodes waiting for your download, I recently found a pretty entertaining show.
It’s called Uhh Yeah Dude and is comprised of Jonathan Larroquette and Seth Romatelli, two guys from “HollywUYD” who discuss popular and weird news in a hilarious way. I’m a journalism major, but I hate sorting through all the news sites and papers sometimes so it’s refreshing that these guys make it fun.
Their tagline is “A weekly roundup of America through the eyes of two American Americans.” Check it out in the itunes store under podcasts or visit their site to subscribe. They also have a You Tube channel with videos of their broadcasts.
While you’re in podcast world you have to listen to the most popular comedy channel, The Ricky Gervais Podcast. Ricky Gervais, Steve Merchant relentlessly mock Karl Pilkington and his outlandish ideas. If you’re a fan of The Office, (UK or US) or you know….comedy, you will love it.
Heroes in the Office

Now that school is done, I have a chance to catch up on what’s been going on for the past 10 months. I recently discovered that you can watch every episode of the office online. So that took up like two days of my life and was awesome. I love the show Heroes and though they only have the first 5 episodes of season 2, I watched those as well and now have to mope until its released on DVD.
The way it works on NBC and I suspect on other web sites is that one company will sponsor an episode, so the last episode I watched was unfortunately sponsored by Gas X. The commercial breaks are usually only 15 to 30 seconds long, but it’s only one commercial replayed. Surprisingly this is even more annoying than the 3 replayed on usual television.
Something else I have discovered in the “real world” is that these shows have to do a lot more now to build fan bases. It’s a lot like what newspapers, ad companies and businesses are having to do now. They don’t just make a product anymore, they have a fan web site, forums, short extra episodes, games and networks of people. The office has “branches” in many small U.S. cities on their Dunder Miffin Infinity web site and they have a “company” web site.
These things are cool at first, but then you realize that some people spend a lot of time on these sites. And you might be one of them.
Heroes has web sites for
